42 year old Tariq Mehmood is skilled in the intricate art of Zari and Gota embroidery. Tariq has been in this business since the past 35 years but the last 2 years have been difficult for him and his family. Women in Pakistan purchase these delicately prepared clothes for festive occasions or weddings but COVID has decreased the demand for these expensive garments. With less orders and increasing inflation, Tariq has struggled to continue his business and earn a living for the family. Tariq’s three young children are studying in private schools and he has been unable to generate enough income to pay their fees. Tariq wants to purchase raw material including fabric, thread, frames and decorative stuff to prepare new articles.
